I got a phone call from school on Wednesday this past week. Emily had cut her finger and was asking the teacher for a Band Aid when the teacher noticed that she had a bad hand tremor. It was so concerning that she called me. Well, after I put a call into the doctor and was trying to rack my brain as to what was wrong, I got a call from the school nurse. Emily had a siezure. We have been dealing with for a while now and for her to have a shaking seizure is a big deal. So, I am dialing my cell phone with one hand to call Brian, packing up my work bag with the other all while yelling over the walls to my boss that I was leaving and didn't know when I would be back.
Em is a very enthusiastic child. She usually is over excited to see me. But when I got to school she was spacy. I took her home and we sat on the couch watching Enchanted over and over again. It took a whole two days for her to get back to normal. NOw she is so over stimulated and over tired from Wednesday, she's majorly grumpy.
But I have to wonder what the shaking would have been like on the Richter Scale.

Late night
It's a really long story, but, I'm at work. It's the over night shift. I know that I'm going to get a lot caught up. Things that I couldn't get to last week when I was working with out an aide. I know that it will be quiet. But, man am I tired. I tried to take a nap before I came in and that lasted twenty minutes. I couldn't sleep. And from experience, I know that if I sleep even near an hour before I work than I'll be worse.
But right now, I've been up since 8 am and I won't get back to bed before 8am. 24 hours. It's been a long time since I did that. years ago, that was fun to do. It usually involved craming for exams of a bottle of something that made me forget my name. Then it was becasue of a new baby. But now........
Maybe I'll pick up the phone and call all the people who used to call me during the day when I was working night shift before. Just to chat.....

Yuck!!!
Monday is St. Patricks Day. Happy St. Patricks Day to you all.
My in laws are as Irish as you can get. Kathleen, Brian's mother came to America when she was 18. From the Northwest of Ireland, County Mayo. George, Brian's father, is first generation Irish-American. His father was from Ireland and his mother was from Scotland, but her parents moved from Ireland to Scotland.
So, St. Patricks Day is a big deal in the family. When Brian and I were together for our first St. Patrick's Day, I got a real education on what St. Patrick's DAy is like in Ireland, verus what it's like in America.
You get up and go to Mass. Most of the day. Then, you come home for a Ham dinner. Yup, I said ham. It's a lot like what we would do on Thanksgiving.
Kathleen will tell you she had never heard of corn beef until she came to the states. She does cook it, but I hate the stuff as does she. So we eat something else. The rest eat the corn beef.
But, did you know that there are snakes in Ireland? Some scholars think that St. Patrick really drove out the toads, since there are none on the island. The greek word for Toad is similar to the word for snake. The corn beef dinner is an Irish American tradition. The first pradae in the world was a St. Patricks Parade. St. Patrick used the shamrock, a three leafed clover to talk about the Holy Trinity.
So, we are going to the in-laws tomorrow and we are having corn beef and cabbage. Maybe I'll stop at Subway on my way and get something green to go with my Guiness!

I hate my cell phone
I really do. It's a pain in the ass. I do like to be able to multi task, talk on it while in the car, find Brian in Walmart... you know, but I hate hearing it ring sometimes. It means that something needs my attention at work or home. No one ever calls me on it just to chat. So, when it rings or vibrates, I know that it's a call I would rather not answer, like when I'm in bed.
Do you remember the days when we didn't have them and we had to wait until after a period of time for someone to call us back? When we could walk around the mall and not have to hear the five calls about when are you coming home or where the hell is the damn remote? (okay, I haven't gotten that call... more like where are Emily's glasses or something else that she needs).
So, tonight, it's ringning. It's some one from work. But I'm on the other line talking to some one else from work. It's really a big pain in my neck! Let's not even begin to talk about the cell phones in public places!!!! Or the blue tooths hidden under hair and people talking to the air!
